Honey Biscuits (Taste like Church's)
2 cups flour
4 teas. baking powder
1/2 teas. sugar
1 teas. cream of tarter
1/2 cup vegetable shortening
2/3 cup whole milk
1/4 cup butter,melted
1/3 cup Da Buzz Raw Honey
Mix flour, baking powder, salt, sugar and cream of tarter in a bowl. Work shortening into flour mixture by crumbling with your hands until mixture feels like cornmeal. Add milk and mix well. Shape dough into 2" balls and place on baking sheet. Brush with melted butter (save remainder) Bake 10-12 minutes or until golden.
Meanwhile bring remainder of butter and the honey to a boil in a saucepan, then set aside. Brush biscuits immediately after removing from oven.
Honey Oat Quick Bread
1 cup old fashioned rolled oats
1 1/3 cups whole wheat flour, or white wheat
1 cup flour
2 1/4 teas. baking powder
1/4 teas. baking soda
1 1/4 teas. salt
8 ounces nonfat or low fat plain yogurt
1 large eggs
1/4 cup canola oil
1/4 cup Da Buzz Honey
3/4 cup nonfat or low fat milk
Preheat oven to 375. Coat a 9x5 loaf pan with cooking spray. Sprinkle 1 Tabl. oats in the pan and coat sides and bottom. Stir together both flours, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a bowl. In another bowl mix together with a fork the oats, yogurt, eggs, oil and honey. Stir in milk.
Gently stir in yougurt mixture into flour mixture just until thoroughly incorporated, but not overmixed ( can cause toughening). Immediately scrape the batter into the pan, spreading evenly to the edges. Sprinkle with additional oats on top.
Bake until well browned on top and a toothpick inserted comes out clean, 40 - 45 minutes. Place on wire rack to cool 15 minutes. Remove from pan and cool on rack
